Marine operations

Since 2008 Bowline Crew have been involved in Marine Operations. Tasks and projects with our involvement is among several; ocean transport, mooring, design of equipment for operation, mobilization of vessels's and lifting along a quay or floating offshore.
Bowline does perform planning, engineering and supervisor roles on any location in the world.



Ocean Voyage & Planning
The Engineers in Bowline do calculations for ships, barges and offshore installations in transit condition and operation condition. Design calculations for the floating unit are performed along with the equipment on or below deck. Weather limitation might be the case for an operation, we will guide and advice on defining the limitation or strictly work by client specified limitations. Bowline can solve task like; transit calculations and sea fastening design for voyages over the 7 seas, towing manuals and planning of both wet and dry tows.

Mooring
Marine Warranty and local authorities do often ask for mooring calculation. For quayside moorings when environmental forces like, current, waves and wind is known Bowline can perform such analyses.

Equipment Design for Operations
The combination of engineers and operation personnel in our staff is an advantage when equipment for use in an operation are to be designed. The trail and fail who desktop engineers have to go though is minimized when the end user is involved.
We are proud to be capable of specifying and design equipment for use onboard, in the water or on the seabed.

Mobilization & Yard/ Construction supervision
A numerous of ships or barges have been specially mobilized for a specific operation or a period of time. Such mobilization we will perform with joy and excitement. An mobilization do require 100% attention during the whole period. Timelines are to be held, The vessel shall be in approved condition before it leaves the yard, a number of different contractors are in work simultaneously; they shall all be kept busy and work effectively. Safety in all means are extreme important to maintain during the mobilization for all parties involved. The safety shall be kept but not kill the motivation or the timeline. Even if unexpected situations do pop-up, the target is to get the vessel ready on time. It can be enormous amount of tasks during one single mobilization. The planning must be proper up front, this to meet the demands in budgets and the upcoming operation – We can perform all this tasks with courage.

Lifting
There is no lower limit for a lift; it can be 40kg to 10-tousand tones. The 'smaller' lifts shall be performed flawless as well as the large ones. The calculated risks for a lift can be evaluated differently, if it is a pallet with drinking water, an offshore module or the last laydown for a subsea power cable.
-We do have experience with a number of projects offshore, up to 9500 tons. -We do have experience installing power cable and umbilical on the seabed.
-We do have experience lifting termination heads with a power cable or umbilical connected, from 300kg to 70 ton.
-We have experience using quay side cranes, vessel cranes and floating cranes.
-Quite some experience has been gained working together with the major installation companies in Europe and USA.
-We do have experience developing lifting plans for equipment exchange down below deck in an unfriendly complicated location.
All lifting operations must be planned, the rigging to be determined, lifting path inspected and the equipment to pass inspections.
