Engineering
We beleive the end product in engineering is the drawing and the report.
-The drawing does present the product and will be used in manufacturing or operation
-The report documents that the drawing is correct and can be used according to the governing standard.
It is a simple way to present the end product; the Engineers need to have excellent knowledge in HSE, good engineering practice, manufacturing methods and they need to have significant knowledge in how an operation can or shall be performed.
We, Bowline, like to believe that we have advantage in combining the above skills. Our engineers and crew have broad experience and education in areas like; structure, drawings and operation.
Our office and hands-on crew do cooperate in the planning process and in engineering process, then we often do involve the manufacturing company into the de design details for best possible manufacturing process.
Drawing
The Drawing can have a number of purpoces; CLASS drawing, manufacturing drawing, basis for a tender or request, basis for a budget or as build presentation. There is no drawing task we cannot perform, they are all possible to produce in:
- 2D CAD
- 3D CAD
- Export to a number of formats
It is among our daily tasks to perform analyzes for intended use in approval processes with CLASS, authorities or internally with the client office.
We do believe we have excellent skills in; structural calculations of steel structures for onshore and offshore use, piping and supports, global and local detail calculations of building structures, lifting appliances and the lifted object – also this; onshore or on a floating unit of any kind.
We use good engineering practice, the Clients advice/request, experience, knowledge and:
- FEM with STAADPro, Simulation and Tekla
- Conventional calculations in Excel, MathCad or on a legal pad
Lifting
A huge, a small or a medium heavy lift is within our achievable scope of work. Produced documents from Bowline can be:
- Verification reports
- Lifting plans
- Calculations of small details or the whole lift
Standards
Below a short listing of most used standards we do work according to:
- DNV GL
- NORSOK
- Eurocode
- Directive 2006/42/EC
- Norwegian laws for work environments
- SN -NS3472
Motion
Ship and Vessel motions is a specific work field where Bowline do have contacts and use contractors at request. In the office we do simple calculations for:
- Accelerations
- Mooring
- Kinetic energy
